United Postpones some route launches, Boom completes a test flight, Cathay removing First Class, Colombia becomes more popular!

United said on Monday it has delayed the start of two new international routes, citing a pause on some certifications by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)for the carrier following a series of safety incidents. The carrier said the impacted routes are between Tokyo and Cebu, the Philippines, and Newark, New Jersey and Faro, Portugal.

Boom Supersonic's XB-1, a test plane for their supersonic passenger jet Overture, took its first flight! This is a big step towards bringing back supersonic travel for civilians ✈️. The XB-1 is smaller and slower than Overture will be, but it's helping them test new technologies for quiet, sustainable supersonic flight. Overture will fly at Mach 1.7, twice as fast as regular airplanes, and aims to be affordable, too!

Cathay Pacific is removing First Class from their 777-300ER airplanes 💺 and replacing them with all-new Business Class pods ✨. They say the new Business Class will be so nice it's practically the same as First Class 😉. This change will take up to 3 years to complete. In the meantime, First Class will still be available on their Boeing 777-9 jets ✈️. Cathay Pacific is also bulking up their Premium Economy section (we discussed this earlier this week).
