Upfront: Oneworld Alliance has introduced a new AI for RTW fares!
Oneworld Alliance has introduced a new AI tool designed to simplify booking multi-city trips. This tool leverages Google Cloud’s infrastructure and the AI platform from Elemental Cognition. It is currently being piloted to assist with planning complex itineraries for the Oneworld Round the World travel package, which allows up to 16 journeys across three continents.

Round-the-world tickets have always been painful to put together, and AI is meant to help improve the process. The booking process for such trips can be challenging due to fluctuating flight availability and intricate rules. However, the AI tool, featuring a chatbot, guides users through the process by analyzing routes and troubleshooting issues like flight availability. Users can interact with the chatbot or manually input cities and dates, with the AI handling the rest.

During a recent test, the tool finalized a 175-day trip across eight cities for $4,560, illustrating its potential to streamline a traditionally time-consuming process. Over the past 18 months of pilot testing, users have been five times more likely to complete a booking using this tool. This suggests it could be beneficial for travelers who need assistance or are still exploring options.
As this tool evolves, there is potential for it to expand into additional areas, such as hotel bookings and airport convenience, further enhancing the travel planning experience. You can try it here: https://rtw-va.oneworld.com/
